Diatomaceous Earth Kills Pests Naturally - No Synthetic Chemicals - Order Diatomaceous Earth Now and make the fleas go away! Recommended by Dr. Zoran D. Jankovic - Veterinary Surgeon and Homeopath - Malta

We are selling three types of Diatomaceous Earth right now.
  • One is in it's purest form and it's called Fossil Shell Flour. It kills fleas, ticks and internal parasites and can be fed to animals of all types as a dewormer and mineralizer in their feed. It's used to treat grain stored in silos too. You may be eating it yourself in cereals and grain products already. You can use it in your own kitchen to help preserve and keep insects out of your grains and cereals. Fossil Shell Flour is used for Bed Bug treatment too.
  • The second type is D-20 Pet & Animal, Diatomaceous Earth with Pyrethrin (a digestible extract made from Chrysanthemum flowers) and a catalyst (Piperonyl Butoxide 1%. made from the Sassafras plant) added to it, to make it even more effective against external parasites like fleas, ticks, flies, ants, etc.. It is very safe. Pets licking their fur after application will not be harmed. It's not for feeding directly like the fossil shell flour however.
  • The third kind is D-20 Fire Ant, Diatomaceous Earth. This type of DE is used to kill Fire Ants and any other type of ground nesting soft bodied bug you may need to eliminate. Click this blue link text to view the page for D-20 Fire Ant Diatomaceous Earth

Perma-Guard D-20
For serious infestation of your home and treatment of pets that are just miserable because of the pain and itching, we have a more powerful product made with Diatomaceous Earth as the primary ingredient.

D-20 contains .2% Pyrethrins, a vegetable, digestible extract made from Chrysanthemum flowers. It is one of the oldest, natural insecticides known to man. Evidence of it's use dates back to the Egyptians. Pyrethrum is deadly to insects and other cold blooded life forms. It is known for its fast knock down action but, its value is reduced by the fact that it evaporates in minutes. It works well in Permaguard formulas because it is time released by the dry powder of Diatomaceous Earth.

The next ingredient in D-20 is Piperonyl Butoxide 1%. It comes from the Sassafras plant. It is an effective insecticide in its own right, and helps magnify the effect of the Pyrethrum. Without it, ten times more Pyrethrum would be needed to get the same effect of using them together.

Diatomaceous Earth is made up of the silicate shells of microscopic sea creatures called diatoms. With it's microscopic razor sharp edges, diatomaceous earth when spread in your garden or field physically kills and deters slugs without the use of harmful poisons.
It can be dusted or sprayed as a control for most leaf eating insects and is used to deter slugs and snails.
Natural DE makes a very effective natural insecticide. The insecticidal quality of DE is due to the razor sharp edges of the diatom remains. When DE comes in contact with the insects, the sharp edges lacerate the bugs' waxy exoskeleton and then the powdery DE absorbs the body fluids causing death from dehydration. Said more simply, DE kills insects by drying then up.

"FYI": Diatomaceous Earth sold for swimming pool filters is dangerous to human health, your pets and Livestock. It has been chemically treated and heated to change it's composition and is high in Crystaline Silica which can cause silicosis.

Want to control fleas from the ground up on your property? I'm sure you do. Nematodes applied to the lawn and yard area kill flea larvae in the soil. Stop the Breeding Cycle at the source. Click here to read up on them and order if you like.

Crab Shell Fertilizer helps control fleas too. See it here.

german shepherd

Angel is the chief of the Pet Police and keeps us all in line around here, in between chasing the frisbee and collectings sticks that is. She has this to say.

Angel says, "You really should get some of this if you have problems with fleas and ticks cuz, that harsh chemical stuff tastes really bad when dogs & cats lick it off, and it's really bad news. Harsh synthetic chemicals on your pets can kill them and cause them serious pain and trauma. This goes for the fertilizer and other stuff you spread on the lawn made by corporations who are more interested in profit than safety.

John sells all kinds of pet safe stuff for this lawns and gardens too! Remember, all us dogs and pets don't wear clothes and shoes to protect us from the world around us. We come in direct contact with everything, everyday!"

"Cat fleas (Ctenocephalides felis)" are the most common fleas found on both cats and dogs. Flea eggs and adult feces fall off the host and accumulate where the pet rests, making these the prime flea breeding foci.

Flea breeding in these areas can be reduced by establishing one sleeping area for the pet, choosing an area that can be cleaned thoroughly on a regular basis, and using bedding material that can be laundered weekly or thrown away as often. If human flea allergy is the cause of the complaint, pets should be excluded from areas of the house frequented by the person(s), or keep the people out of where the animal lives. That's my preference anyway (stay out of my room, I'll stay out of yours!). After all, which came first, the dog or the person?

Vacuuming flea breeding areas is also beneficial. Byron and Robinson (1986) found that a beater-bar vacuum would remove 15-27% of larvae introduced into a carpet and 32-59% of the eggs. In addition to removing the juvenile stages, vacuuming will also remove adult flea feces, the essential food source for the developing larvae. Pupae appear to be unaffected by vacuuming, because their silk cocoons are tightly bound to carpet fibers. Attachments should be used to vacuum cracks, crevices, and upholstered furniture where pets rest. Vacuuming alone will not remove the entire flea population but will help keep them reduced. The steam-extraction carpet cleaning method should effectively destroy all stages of fleas present.

Combing the pet with a flea comb is an effective but time-consuming method of controlling fleas on pets, but, most of us really like it. It makes me want to scratch my belly and pretend I'm running when I'm laying down, if you do it right!

It is most effective on cats, especially since cats do not normally tolerate baths. Fleas removed with the comb should be disposed of by dropping them in soapy water (Olkowski et al. 1983). Our experiences have shown that many cats find combing enjoyable. (Especially if you give the cat treats afterwards!)"

Plant Pests:
For control of aphids, white fly, beetles, loopers, mites, leaf hoppers, and others, use Diatomaceous Earth inside your home, greenhouse or outdoors on fruits, vegetables, flowers, grains and grass, up to and including day of harvest. For dry application of Diatomaceous Earth use a duster(see above) and cover entire plant, apply to both top and bottom of leaf. For young plants, as little as two pounds per acre may be adequate. For larger plants, five lbs per acre is probably sufficient. Diatomaceous Earth will need reapplication after a rain.  Applies best when there is dew or after a light rain. It is a long lasting, effective powder. The insects can not build up resistance. Wear a dust mask when applying large amounts of it.

Livestock:
All livestock, Horses, Cows, Pigs, Sheep, Goats, Rabbits, Chickens and others will benefit from the use of Diatomaceous Earth. It is completely safe and nontoxic.

Some of the benefits are

  • Control of fleas and ticks,
  • Stimulates basic metabolism,
  • Converts feed better,
  • Reduces odor and moisture in barns and stalls, results in better coat and hoof condition,
  • Keeps fly larvae from developing in manure, noticeably reducing the fly population,
  • Reduces annual vet bills,
  • Controls worms and internal parasites without chemicals,
  • Better egg production, stronger eggs, and reduces overall animal stress.

Feed Grade Diatomaceous Earth can be mixed right in with the animals feed for deworming.  Feed once and check stool for parasites the following afternoon or next day. Collect stool when you find it and discard it safely. It can contain eggs and partially dead worms that can reinfect your pet or any other animal that comes by to smell it. They can infect you too so, wear gloves when handling animal manure of any kind. If you suspect that your lawn and property may be a source of parasites, you can mix DE with dry sand and apply it like fertilizer to your lawn areas. Wear a dust mask and don't do it on a windy day. Water it in after application.

Feed again if worms are still present in the stool. If you continue to experience problems with parasite infestation, you'll need to put some thought into where they might originate Another dog or place where they hang out can often be the source.

For daily maintenance on cats and dogs, cut portion by half. Small dogs and special breeds can be sensitive to any change in diet. Use common sense and consult with your vet if you have any concerns or questions.

  • Cows/Horses get 1-2 oz per day
  • Sheep/Goats/Hogs get 1/2 oz per day
  • Dogs/Cats get 1/2 teaspoon per day
  • Large Cats - 1 teaspoon
  • Kittens - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Dog 100 lbs + - 2 tablespoon
  • 50 - 100lbs - 1 tablespoon
  • Under 50 lbs - 1 teaspoons
  • Mini dogs - 1/2 teaspoon

For Chickens and other livestock you need to weight the feed and add 2% of that weight in Diatomaceous Earth.  Your livestock will also get the benefit of over 14 trace minerals that make up Diatomaceous Earth.
Never feed D-20 or any other type of DE to an animal, other than the feed grade material, fresh water DE, by Perma-Guard.

Stored Grain:
Just add 7-10 lbs. of Diatomaceous Earth to each ton of grain as it is conveyed into the storage. When added to grain, Diatomaceous Earth killed the bugs that were present, and protected the grain from further invasions.
Bugs could not become immune and they were killed by physical action, not chemical.

When using diatomaceous earth regularly and in large amounts, like when you feed live stock and treat large pens and kennels, wear a dust mask, gloves and a good set of goggles when pouring it from the bag.
